Pam Kleeman

Pam Kleemann has been a practising visual artist and photographer for 25 years. Her work has been exhibited locally, nationally and internationally. She has undertaken commissions and generated her own self-funded projects. Her photographic installations explore serious social issues – sexism, racism, identity, the body as commodity, but are presented in a playful manner that invites oppositional responses, with the intention of evoking in the viewer a sense of disquiet and discomfort. Her work references the humour and irony found in Surrealist and Dada movements of the 1930s, and she also draws on literature, myth, popular culture, anecdote, religious and secular art, contemporary advertising, film and modern technology as inspiration for her practice.
